Operation Cocoon - Effective Strategy - Did Work.
November 2004
He was Veerappan. To India, he was like Osama bin laden.
He used to hide in the forest.
He killed hundreds of people. He used to smuggle sandal wood.
He slayed thousands of elephants for tusker.
He used to kidnap people and demand millions of money as ransom.
He was a menace for more than 17 years.
He killed many policemen. It was very hard to capture him.
He was a challenge to the civilized society.
A team of 600 members form the special task force to capture Veerappan.
This time the team leaders worked out many different strategies very well.
They named it as Operation Cocoon. It was well planned and executed successfully.
Some of the policemen disguised and joined Veerappan's group as extremists.
They won his confidence and gathered all the intelligence.
Some of the policemen camouflaged and hid in the bushes for many days.
Some of the policemen disguised as villagers and lived in that area for many months.
Finally on November 2004, the police captured him and killed him.
It is a great achievement. It is time to celebrate the victory.
Super Cop, Mr.Vijaya Kumar led the team to success. After successful operation,
the team celebrated their victory.
Chief Minister Jayalalitha governs Tamilnadu, one of the states in India.
She is an iron lady. She is totally committed to peace and
determined to eliminate extremism and terrorism.
Veerappan issue was a national issue. It was a shame to the nation.
By eliminating Veerappan, Jayalalitha solved a national issue
Jayalalitha restored nation's pride.
With this achievement, Jayalalitha emerges as a National Leader.
She qualifies to lead the nation in the future.
We congratulate the Chief Minister Jayalalitha and her team for this great success.
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse greets Chairperson of the UPA Government and Congress President Sonia Gandhi prior to a meeting at Gandhi's residence in New Delhi, 13 October 2007. Rajapakse is in India for a two-day visit said Colombo remained open to a "negotiated and sustainable" solution to the escalating ethnic conflict in his island homeland.
Operation Cocoon was an effective strategy to capture and kill Veerappan. It was very effectively executed by the Tamilnadu Police under the leadership of Jayalalitha. It did work. It did give the result.
Operation Cocoon should have been the best and effective strategy for Prabhakaran too. This team, Mahinda and Sonia should have adapted the Operation Cocoon strategy. Long time ago, they might have achieved the result.
It was just executed by the Tamilnadu Police; No Military; No heavy weapons. No loss of any civilian lives. No loss of lives in the police side too. Target was identified and executed.
Had Jayalalitha adopted the Mahinda and Sonia strategy, Jayalalitha would have miserably failed in her attempt to capture Veerappan. Above all, by this time, so many villages might have been burnt; so many loss of innocent people lives. Veerappan might have been at large still.
It is like a Laurel and Hardy comedy movie. Hardy was sleeping on the bed. A small bee sat on Hardy's face. Laurel brought a heavy hammer and hit Hardy's face. The bee flew away. But the hammer hit hard on Hardy's face.
You need to watch discovery channel and see how they capture the tiger. They don't go into the forest with heavy weapons to capture the tiger. They go into the forest with nets, ropes and a few guns. They hide and wait for the tiger to come out. When the tiger is out and walking in the forest, it may fell into the net.
You don't go into the forest with beating your big drum and singing a song like, "We're coming Tiger; We're coming."
Tiger is not a Dinosaur. Tiger is a tiger. Tiger is not extinct yet. Tiger still lives in the Asian forests.
