Invite the Television and Newspaper reporters from India
It is a historical meeting. Very glad that it took place. Had it not happened, it would have been a historical blunder of Manmohan Singhji. It would have been recorded in the history as Manmohan Singh lied to the People of Tamilnadu. Once again, thanks to Pranabji to make it happen and kept Manmohan Singh's promise up.
I don't think anyone expected a great outcome out of this meeting. So no one is disappointed. The status quo remains the same.
But the very interesting thing is, the direct invitation from the President of Sri Lanka to the political leaders of Tamilnadu.
Rajapaksa mentioned about this invitation a few days ago; and he mentioned it again. Here is the message from the President:
During the discussions President Rajapaksa extended a personal invitation to an all party delegation from Tamil Nadu led by Chief Minister Karunanidhi and Ms. J. Jayalalitha, General Secretary of the AIADMK, to see for themselves the situation on the ground and to persuade the LTTE to lay down arms and join the democratic mainstream.
It gives an impression that the President of Sri Lanka is serious about this invitation. Sincerely, he expects the political leaders accept his invitation and make a visit to Yaalpaanaam or Killinochchi or Mullaitivu.
Or, does Rajapaksa play cheap politics?
We know our political leaders. In fact, it is a wrong term.
A person can either be a Politician or a Leader.
If she/he is a Politician, she/he can not be a Leader.
If she/he is a Leader, she/he can not be a Politician.
Leaders provide solution to a problem; they are part of a Solution.
Politicians create or maintain a problem; they are part of a Problem.
Let us believe Rajapaksa is sincere on this invitation matter.
Then, Mr. President, if you are very sincere on your invitation, please invite the Television and Newspaper reporters from India. If Sri Lanka government and Indian government agree on this, then the Indian media would love to visit Sri Lanka and get the facts and truth from all sectors; from the government; from the Prabhakaran team; from the people too.
Right now, the Press is the true representatives of the People.
People don't trust the politicians; but they do trust the media.
And the fact is, right now the people are well aware of the current state of Sri Lanka's issue. The people of Tamilnadu and India are very much interested in knowing the truth, direct from the war field. They do want to listen to the statement from the people directly.
Right now, the People of Tamilnadu are the King. So, if you are serious, then invite the Indian Media. It is as good as inviting the People of Tamilnadu; People of India; in fact the People of the entire World.
If you are not serious, then just ignore this request.
Then, you are also not a Leader; just an other Politician.
