End of Sarath Fonseka
  • End of Sarath Fonseka

    Sri Lanka Army chief, Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka fled the United States cutting short his planned stay in the US to avoid being questioned by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) over warcrimes under his command, according to an AFP report. On November 5, 2009, Sarath Fonseka reached Colombo.

    That is the end of Sarath Fonseka. The media is completely prevented from recording his arrival. You have no record that he arrived at Colombo. No one knows whether Sarath Fonseka is still alive; dead; house arrest; court-martialed;

    There will not be any more news or pictures or video about Sarath Fonseka. No one can help him; In fact, no one is willing to help him too; Right now, in Sri Lanka, the media has no freedom; Politicians, absolutely no freedom; People, they don't even know whether they have freedom or not.

    King Mahinda, let the politicians assemble and talk to the media. That is to make the world to feel that - democracy still exists in Sri Lanka. In fact, those politicians really help King Mahinda. When those politicians stop talking, then the world will realize the truth that democracy is dead in Sri Lanka.

    Media can not save Sarath Fonseka. Those politicians have no special love for the General. They may feel that one of them will get a chance to be the next candidate for the presidential election. So, they are not going to mobilize the people force to free Sarath Fonseka.

    People of Sri Lanka, have never aspire for freedom; they never had a freedom fight or struggle against the british. That was the biggest challenge for Prabhakaran. He had to make the people understand the value of freedom. His first task was to make the people to realize the value of being a free human being. Second task was to constantly motivate them; Third task was to make them courageous.

    That is the unique and different kind of leadership. No one demonstrated that kind of leadership in the recent history. The leadership's main objective was to get freedom for all his people.

    Prabhakaran always had his military uniform; Sarath Fonseka also had his military uniform. Prabhakaran had his generals and soldiers; Sarath Fonseka also had his generals and soldiers. Only difference was - the military men are salaried employees; Prabhakaran team - out of love, respect and so many great reasons.

    However, Sarath Fonseka fought for a cause; for the love of his country. King Mahinda didn't face the challenges on the ground. The issue on this beautiful island is no longer about Tamils.

    It is freedom for all human being on that beautiful island.
